About Trivandrum
The city of holy serpent, Trivandrum, is also known as Thiruvananthapuram
and is the capital of one of the most beautiful Indian states, Kerala. It is
stretched along the enchanting south west coast of India. Trivandrum owns
calm and serene backwaters which is a major attraction for visitors coming
to Kerala. Trivandrum is also called as the city of the thousand - headed
Anatha, the holy serpent on which Lord Vishnu reclines. One of the most

Major Attractions in Trivandrum
Vettukad Church : This church is situated 7 kms from Trivandrum. The
Vettukad Church is also known as 'Madre De Deus' Church, which attracts
thousands of devotees from all religions. The annual celebration here is
called the 'Feast Of Christ, The King'.
Sri Ananthapadmanabhaswamy Temple : This ancient temple is one of
the most important features of Trivandrum. It overlooks the Padma Theertham
Tank and is devoted to Lord Vishnu. Here, Lord Vishnu is depicted reclining
on Sri Anantha, the hooded snake from which the city derives its name. This
temple is known for exquisite stone carvings and pavilions and is open only
to Hindus, enforcing strict dress regulations.
Sankhumugham Beach : The long stretch of clean sand is located near
the airport. The water there, however, is suitable for bathing.
Kovalam Beach : Kovalam beach is only 16 km. away from the city.
This golden beach has silvery sands fringed with rows of tall palms and a
sheltered bay provides a wide choice of water sports.
The Science and Technology Museum : This museum is situated in
Trivandrum with the prime objective of setting up of galleries with working
or animated and participatory type of exhibits, on all disciplines of
Science and Technology.
