India - A living Heritage

It is the crowd, the ocean of faces in the land of multitudes, endlessly stirring, pushing and moving. It is in this human circulation that one sees India's colour, variety, busyness, and, senses also its power, vitality and grandeur.....................

Day 1. Arrival/Delhi:

Late Night Arrival. Meeting and assistance upon arrival as our representatives welcome you and escort you to your car.
Whilst the room keys and check-in is organized, our representative would introduce the tour to you and hand over the documents to you.

Day 2. Delhi:

A leisurely morning, followed by a brief tour of New Delhi .Our tour of New Delhi includes visits to such sights as Humayun's Tomb (1586) and Safarjung's Tomb (1753) the Qutab Minar 72 meters high and one of the most perfect towers in the Persian world. The Iron Pillar which has survived the vagaries of weather for over 1500 years. Continue with a drive through Embassy area, the Government buildings (1921-1930) and Cannaught Place, the heart and main shopping district of the capital.

Return to your hotel by 3PM. And have a rest for 2-3 Hrs. Welcome Dinner & Home Visit :

This evening we visit and Indian family for an Indian home experience. The evening is designed to give you a 'feel' and insight into Indian family life as well as experience typical Indian hospitality and home made Indian food.

Day 3. Delhi/Agra (Private Drive) :

Following breakfast, we cross the city and into the walled gates of the Old city with visits to the Jamma Mosque (1650) and drive through the fabled area of Chandni Chowk (aptly translates to Moonlight Square) where the throngs of shoppers and vendors meet in the oldest area of Delhi. Visit the Red Fort (1639-1648 built by Shah Jehan the builder of the Taj Mahal in Agra) to view the inlaid and carved Royal Chambers, on to Raj Ghat and nearby ghats where the founder of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi and thereafter Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were cremated.

Afternoon, we ride to Agra in our luxury car. We would have opportunities to stop en route at well appointed restaurants for refreshments as well as wash room facilities.

Upon arrival at Agra, check into Hotel Howard Park Plaza. Evening is at leisure.

Day 4. Agra/ Fatehpur Sikri/ Ranthambhore National Park :

We are about to witness one of the greatest sights of one's lifetime - the Taj Mahal at sunrise, as we visit the fabled Tajmahal to witness the magical effects caused by the reflections of the changing colours of the rising Sun on this brilliant white marble building.

After breakfast, we ride to the massive Agra Fort;. The elegant buildings inside reflect an interesting synthesis of Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles. Built by Emperor Akbar, the maze of the courtyards, mosques & private chambers of the fort echo the story of the Mughal Empire. The Moti Masjid & other magnificent buildings reflect the skill of the ancient Indian architects.

Return to hotel for wash and change and then continue riding to Ranthambhore, stopping at Fatehpur Sikri (ghost capital) for a tour of these magnificent and world heritage buildings, which are still in a state of perfect reservation. The city is divided into religious and secular sections. The profusion of sculpture is breathtaking. Also, the white marble mosque in the secular section is incredible. It is a very sacred mosque and pilgrims from far and near arrive here to pay their respects.

Upon arrival, check into Tiger Moon Resort. Cosy Cottages with gently sloping tiled roofs give you all the modern amenities you need. Complete with swimming pool. Dinning hall serving Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisine. A well stocked bar and library. Nights of folk dances and cultural programs under moonlit skies with a barbecue sizzling tempting nearby.

Morning and evening jungle excursions in open top vehicles. Ranthambore National Park encompasses an area of 410 sq. km in which live a healthy population of about 40 tigers. Besides the Tiger a variety of game and avia fauna are also to be easily sighted in the reserve.

Day 6. Ranthambore / Jaipur:

Following the mornings jungle excursion and breakfast, ride three hours to Jaipur. Upon arrival, check in to Hotel Jas Vilas - an elegant residence! On entering through the gates you will immediately feel the warmth and care of a family run place as you are personally received by your hosts: Lily and Mahendra Singh. They have lovingly renovated this half-a-century old mansion into a modern luxurious residence. They encourage guests to feel "at home" in this comfortable atmosphere for this is their home. Day 7. Jaipur :

Following breakfast, we proceed on a guided tour of the Amber Fort. Set on the dry wrinkled Aravali Hills, the Fort is a superb example of Rajput (Medieval Hindu) style of architecture. A slow elephant taxi takes us to the top of the Fort, which houses several graceful buildings.

Afternoon, we proceed for a guided tour of the City Palace & Observatory. The City Palace in the heart of the old city is a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. The center of the palace is a seven storied building called Chandra Palace, with fine views over the gardens and the city. Next top the City Palace is the Solar Observatory - an astronomical treasure house, with solar device that gives accurate predictions till date. The Palace Of Winds, a five storied structure of pink sandstone has semi-octagonal and delicately honeycombed windows overlooking the main street of the old city.

Day 8. Jaipur / Delhi / Departure :

Following breakfast we drive to Fatehpur Sikri for a guided tour. This abandoned capital of the Mughals is a perfectly preserved city at the height of the empire's splendour. The city divided into religious and secular parts has interesting well sculpted buildings. From here we continue riding to Agra. Afternoon, we ride to the massive Agra Fort;. The elegant buildings inside reflect an interesting synthesis of Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles. The maze of the courtyards, mosques & private chambers of the fort echo the story of the Mughal Empire. The Moti Masjid & other magnificent buildings reflect the skill of the ancient Indian architects.

Late afternoon, ride straight to the Delhi airport for your onward flight back home. The journey is through one of India's finest 4-lane dual carriageway. Also, your travel in your luxury car would ensure the smoothest and the most comfortable journeys. Also, you would have opportunities to stop at well appointed restaurants for refreshments and washroom facilities.
