Shimla is situated at an altitude of 2100 mts and all the season visit the
city namely summers, springs, autumn and winters. Summer months are from
April to June, with temperatures ranging from a maximum of 28°C and a
minimum of 15°C. Winter lasts from November to February, with
temperatures rising to a maximum of 8°C and a low of 0°C or even
low.

About Shimla
Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, is a small hill station
situated in the Shivalik hills in the north western Himalayas. The city has
been named after Goddess Kali, Shyamala. Since the isotherm measurements
here are exactly similar to that in London, it was used by the Britishers as
their summer capital during the colonial era. The major attractions of this

Getting There

Road : Shimla is well connected by road to most towns within the
state and to all major towns in Punjab and Haryana. It is linked by bus and
coach to Delhi and Chandigarh as well.

Major attractions in Shimla
Christ Church : It is the second oldest church in Northern India and
is situated on the Ridge is Christ Church. This is a majestic monument with
stained glass windows representing faith, hope, charity, fortitude, patience
and humility is present inside. Christ Church is a place that should be
visited by all.
Jakhu Hill: It is at a distance of 2 kms. from Shimla and at a height of
8000 ft is the highest peak from where one gets a beautiful view of the town
and of the snow-covered Himalayas. At the top of the Hill, is an old temple
of Hanuman, which is also the home of countless playful monkeys waiting to
be fed by all visitors.
Shimla State Museum : It was opened in 1974 and houses a collection
of miniature Pahari paintings, sculptures, bronzes wood-carvings and also
costumes, textiles and jewellery of the region.
Annandale : It is situated at a distance of 2 to 4 kms from the
ridge and is situated at a height of 6,117 ft. It is a favourite spot for
cricket, picnics and the princely game of polo.
Tara Devi : Tara Devi houses a temple dedicated to the goddess of
stars on top of the hill and is situated 11 km from Shimla bus stand. There
is a military Dairy Town here as well as the headquarters of Bharat Scouts
and Guides here. Located at a height of 6,070 ft, it is an ideal place
enjoying solitude, rest and relaxation.
