About Nainital
This popular summer retreat of India attracts many tourists during summers
who are marvelled by the gorgeous greens and the majestic mountains of the
hill resort. This small town is filled with cottages, villas and bungalows.
The hill resort is believed to have derived its name from the goddess Naina
and owns a temple dedicated to the goddess Naina. According to the other
legend the Naini Lake in Nainital lends its name to the hill resort.

Major Attractions in Almora
Naina Devi Temple : The mesmerising lake of Nainital is said to be
the eyes of Sati, wife of Lord Shiva. Sati jumped into the sacrificial
bonfire and Lord Shiva to mourn the death of his beloved wife carried the
body across the country. The remains of her body fell at various places
which today are sacred places of worship for the Hindus.
Hanuman Garhi : Situated at a height of 1951 meters, it was
established by Baba Neem Kiroli, and a very beautiful Hanuman mandir is at
the top. From Hanuman Garhi one can enjoy the spectacular sunset. One can
easily walk down from Nainital to Hanuman Garhi.
St. John's Church : Built in 1847 this ancient church has a brass
memorial kept in memory of the persons who were buried in the infamous
landslide. The few bodies which could be dug out were buried in the church
premises.
