About Alappuzha Beach
Alappuzha beach or Alleppey beach, is one of the most popular beaches in
Kerala, attracting several thousands of foreign tourists. This mesmerizing
beach has Arabian Sea on the west and a web of lakes, lagoons and several
freshwater rivers criss-crossing it. The pier, which extends into the sea
here, is around 140 years old. The boat races, houseboat holidays, beaches,
marine products and coir industry of Alappuzha are well-known.
Alappuzha is also called as the 'Venice of the East' by visitors from
across the world. This enchanting backwater country is also home to various
animals and birds. Vijaya Beach Park and the nearby old lighthouse attracts
innumerable visitors.

Boat Races : Boat races specially the Nehru trophy boat race is a
major attraction here. This place looks more exotic in rainy season. The
Snake boat races also interest the tourists.

Major Nearby attractions
Ambalapuzha : Located 14 kms from Alleppey, Ambalapuzha is famous
for the architecture of Sree Krishna Temple. It is popular throughout Kerala
for 'Palpayasam', which is a milk porridge of exceptional sweetness offered
to the deity.
Aruthunkal : Also known as St. Sebastian Church, it is situated 22
km north of Alleppey. It is one of the most important pilgrim centres of
Christians in Kerala, established by Portuguese missionaries, which is near
Sherthallai. The feast of St. Sebastian is held here every year.
Krishnapuram Palace :It is located 47 km from Alleppey and was built
in the 18th century during the reign of the Travancore king, Marthanda
Varma. This palace is breathtakingly beautiful and displays Kerala style
architecture. A museum with antique sculptures, paintings and bronzes is
stored inside the building.
Champakulam Church : One of the seven churches established by St.
Thomas in Kerala. The annual feast at this church falls on the 3rd Sunday of
October every year. The feast of St. Joseph is celebrated on March 19th.
